Warum sprechen wir Deutsch und Englisch?

Es ist uns wichtig möglichst breit über unseren gemeinnützigen Verein FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES (FFP) zu informieren und so viele Spendengelder als möglich für die Hungernden auf den Philippinen zu sammeln. Wir sprechen Englisch, auch wenn FFP ein Schweizer Gemeinnütziger Verein ist. Einige YouTube-Videos und Texte sind auch in Englisch abbgefasst. Kommentare und Anfragen auf Englisch beantworten wir gerne!
Was/wer ist FFP? Wie ist FFP entstanden?
Am 15. April 2020, nach dem strikten Lockdown, der auch über die kleine philippinische Insel Boracay verhängt wurde, beschloss eine ca. 1-dutzendköpfige Gruppe international zusammengesetzter gestrandeter TouristInnen etwas gegen das sich verschärfende Hungerelend der aufgrund der Corona-Massnahmen verarmenden lokalen Bevölkerung zu unternehmen. Wir fingen an Geld zu sammeln und die dringendst notwendigen Lebensmittel in den selbst auf kleinen Inseln vielen Slums und Squatter Areas zu verteilen.
Wer sind unsere Mitglieder, DonatorInnen und SupporterInnen?
Sie kommen aus verschiedenen Ländern und Motivationen. Uns gemeinsam ist der Wille und Wunsch bedürftigen (armen und hungernden) Menschen in prekären Verhältnissen auf den Philippinen Notnahrung zu verschaffen. Wir sind konfessionell und weltanschaulich neutral. Mitglieder, DonatorInnen und SupporterInnen bleiben anonym. Sie werden mit den (bevorzugt Vor-) Namen oder Pseudonymen genannt, die sie uns angeben. Auch Gesellschaften und Organisationen können uns unterstützen.
Wie kann ich mich über FFP informieren?

Wie hält es FFP mit der Transparenz? Wie funktionieren die Kampagnen genau?
Via Spendengelder oder Hilfsgüter, via Social Media, persönliche Kontakte und Events. Sobald genug Geld od. Hilfsgüter zusammengekommen sind (mind. jeweils CHF 1'000.-), überweisen wir das zu unseren verlässlichen Gewährsleuten und Helfern auf Boracay oder Negros Occidental. Sie stellen dann die nächste Kampagne an einem weiteren Brennpunkt der Not zusammen. Sämtliche Aktionen können via unser stets aktualisiertes Excel-Zentraldokument «FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES.xlsx» (mit Buchhaltung und Policies) sowie via unsere illustrierten Berichte auf unserer Homepage und auf unseren Social Media-Plattformen nachverfolgt werden
Gibt es Spendenabzüge wie Spesen, Gehälter oder andere Kosten bei FFP?
Nein! Spesen und Kosten werden sämtlich von den FFP-Funktionären selber getragen. Die Devise ist, dass jeder einzelne gespendete Peso (bzw. Schweizer Franken) auch zu 100% ans Ziel kommt. Alle Funktionäre von FFP arbeiten unentgeltlich/ehrenamtlich.
Nimmt FFP auch andere Spenden als Geld an? Helfen wir auch im Non-Food Bereich?
Ja! FFP nimmt auch wertvolle Hilfsgüter und Güter der Alltagsunterstützung wie Kleider entgegen. Besonders beliebt und wichtig sind z.B. bei uns ausgediente Handys.
Die Faustregel ist, dass die Transport- und Auslieferungskosten den Wert der Non-Food Artikel deutlich unterschreiten sollten.
Welche Bedürftigen/welche philippinischen Provinzen werden von FFP unterstützt?
It’s a Drop in the Ocean. Die Uno-Organisation Word Food Programme (WFP) sieht wegen der weltweiten Corona-Lockdowns eine Hungersnot «biblischen Ausmasses». Das WFP rechnet mit 250 Mio. MEHR Menschen, die künftig hungern werden! Dabei stehen die Philippinen im Ranking der ärmsten Länder noch nicht mal unter den ersten zehn… FFP recherchiert bestens, wo die Not auf den Philippinen, insbes. an unseren Stützpunkten Boracay und Negros Occ., besonders gross ist. Dort kennen wir uns aus, dort gehen wir hin. Unsere Wahl mag zufällig erscheinen, doch angesichts der verheerenden Jahrhundert-Überschwemmungen in Silay auf Negros, waren wir anfangs 2021 offenbar genau am richtigen Ort.
Wie kann ich Mitglied, DonatorIn od. SupporterIn von FFP werden?
FFP-Mitglied wird, wer uns schriftl. seinen Namen nennt und seine Mitgliedschaft erklärt. FFP geht dann davon aus, dass die Bereitschaft besteht, die in unserem fortlaufend aktualisierten Excel-Zentraldokument festgehaltenen Statuten (Sektion Policies) einzuhalten. Die Mitgliedschaft ist kostenlos und kann jederzeit gekündigt werden. DonatorIn wird man durch Spendengeldzahlung aufs Vereinskonto oder durch Gabe von Bargeld oder Hilfsgütern. Supporten kann man uns sehr gerne (!) auch via LIKES, SHARES und COMMENTS auf unseren FFP Social Media-Plattformen.
Wie kann ich FFP unterstützen auch ohne Mitglied oder DonatorIn zu sein?
Durch LIKES, SHARES und COMMENTS auf unseren FFP Social Media-Plattformen, durch Weiterleitung unsereres Anliegens «an alle», durch Mund zu Mund-Propaganda nach dem Motto «Tue Gutes und sprich davon». Ebenfalls sehr hilfreich sind spontane Bargeldsammlungen oder spezielle FFP Charity-Events, an denen informiert und gesammelt wird. Von allen Beteiligten am eindrücklichsten und lehrreichsten beschrieben, wurde die EIGENE MITARBEIT an einer der Food-Verteilungskampagnen vor Ort in einem der Slums/Squatter Areas.
Wo steht FFP im weiten Feld von Corona-Bedenkenträgern bis Corona-Skeptikern?
FFP ist neutral, weltanschaulich, politisch und religiös ungebunden. Wir halten die freie Meinungsäusserung hoch. Mitglieder, die jedoch gegen den Vereinszweck verstossen, werden mit Mehrheitsbeschluss ausgeschlossen. Auch solche, die sich in anderer Weise unehrenhaft oder gar unflätig verhalten.
Welche Policy vertritt FFP bezügl. Umweltschutz?
Auf den Philippinen gibt’s für einen sehr kleinen Betrag (bunte) Stoffsäcke, in denen wir Food besser ausliefern können als in Plastiksäcken. Die Stoffsäcke, die wir verwenden, sind stabil und so hochwertig, dass sie im Gegensatz zu Plastiksäcken (welche leider nach einmaligem Gebrauch «überall» entsorgt werden) aufbewahrt und mehrfach verwendet werden. Ausserdem vermeiden wir Lieferaufwand, indem wir die Bedürftigen ihre Food Pacs gegen Vorweisung eines Bezugsscheins abholen lassen (Coupons/Voucher-System).
FFP und Nachhaltigkeit – wird FFP seine Kampagnen einstellen «nach Corona»?
Wir bleiben solange tätig, bis wir auch längerfristig keine Spendengelder od. Hilfsgüter mehr generieren können. Dies gilt auch für die Zeit «nach Corona», weil bereits absehbar ist, dass es auch den Philippinen noch lange Jahre nach der Krise wirtschaftlich und sozial schlecht gehen wird und infolgedessen ein nachhaltiger Hilfsbedarf besteht. Die Regel ist die, dass sobald wieder genug Geld od. Hilfsgüter zusammengekommen sind, die jeweils nächste Hilfskampagne gestartet wird. Unsere zuverlässigen und eingespielten Teams vor Ort sind «jederzeit» parat für die jeweils nächste Kampagne.
Kann ich mein an FFP gespendetes Geld von der Steuer absetzen?
Wir sind an der Abklärung dieser offenbar komplizierten Frage mit den Steuerbehörden. Es scheint einen zertifizierbaren Sonderstatus unter den gemeinnützigen Vereinen zu geben, welcher Voraussetzung zur Steuerbefreiung der DonatorInnen ist. Auf jeden Fall verdanken wir alle nicht-anonymen Spenden schriftlich – wer spendet und wessen Adresse bekannt ist, erhält eine Dank-Postkarte von FFP ;)
Wer ist “Jack the Dog” – was hat ein herziges Hündchen mit FFP zu tun?
Jack ist ein (mit dem Tibet-Terrier verwandter) Shi Tsu-Hund und heiss geliebtes Familienmitglied unserer Gemeinde in Silay, Negros Occidental. Jack ist ausgesprochen kinderfreundlich, vorwitzig, lustig und stets zu Streichen aufgelegt. Weil er überall einen unwiderstehlichen Jöh-Effekt auslöst, haben wir ihn zum Botschafter und Maskottchen von FFP ernannt. Er macht seinen Job sehr gut, wau!
Policies, Statuten und Buchhaltung sind im Excel-Zentraldokument «FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES.xlsx» abgelegt. Wo genau?
Unser Excel-Zentraldokument trägt den Namen «FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES.xlsx». Es ist vertraulich und steht nur für Mitglieder via ständig zugänglichen und aktualisierten Dropbox-Link zur Einsicht bereit. Sobald wir die Mitgliedschaft bestätigen, erhält das Neumitglied Zugang zur WhatsApp-Gruppe «HELPERS Food for Phils», wo via WA-Gruppeninformation der entsprechende Dropbox-Link sowie weitere wichtige Links wie zu unseren Statuten und Vereinstätigkeiten abrufbar sind. Jedes FFP-Mitglied kann also sämtliche Aktionen von FFP transparent verfolgen – und natürlich auch mitreden!

Wie ist der Gemeinnützige Verein FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES (FFP) organisiert?
FFP wurde am 15.4.2020 als internationale Spendensammler- und Foodverteilungsgruppe auf Boracay gegründet. Seit 21.07.2020 hat FFP gemäss Art. 60 ff. des Schweizerischen Zivilgesetzbuches (ZGB) die Rechtsform eines Gemeinnützigen Vereins. Wir stützen uns auf unser Gründungsdokument vom 20.07.2020, umfassend die Statuten und das gleichzeitig erstellte und von allen Gründungsmitgliedern unterzeichnete Wahl- und Beschlussprotokoll. Die Mitglieder haben sich geeinigt, Beschlüsse und Aktivitäten online miteinander zu regeln.

Wieso kam/kommt es zu Unterbrüchen unserer Kampagnen und Kommunikation?
Nur sobald jeweils ca. CHF 1'000.- gespendet worden sind, können wir eine nächste Food-Kampagne organisieren und durchführen. Leider hat unsere Bank unsere Tätigkeiten lange Zeit behindert, worauf wir offiziell den gemeinnützigen Schweizer Verein FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES (FFP) gegründet haben. Dies und die Neuinstallation unserer Medienkanäle hat uns ein paar Monate Zeit, Unterbruch unserer Hilfstätigkeit und viel Arbeit gekostet.
Wer leitet die Geschäfte/Kampagnen von FFP? Wie?
Wir, eine 3er-Gruppe (Ämter: Vorsitz, Vize-Vorsitz und Kommunikation/Revision) operieren vom Hauptsitz Basel aus und unterhalten enge Verbindung zu unseren zuverlässigen und eingespielten Food-Verteil Teams auf Boracay und Negros Occidental. Sobald genug Spendengelder (jeweils mind. ca. CHF 1'000.-) eingetroffen sind, planen wir mit den Teams vor Ort die jeweils nächste Kampagne. Auch wir Vorstandsmitglieder mit operativen Tätigkeiten bleiben wahlweise anonym od. geben uns namentlich zu erkennen (jeder wie er wünscht). Alle FFP-Mitglieder und der Vorstand arbeiten unentgeltlich.

Why do we speak English too?
It is important to us that we inform as many people as possible about FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES (FFP) and collect as many donations as possible for the hungry in the Philippines. This means that sometimes we also communicate in English, even though FFP is a Swiss non-profit organization. We are happy to answer your comments and inquiries in English too!

What/who is FFP? How did FFP develop?
On April 15, 2020, after the devastating Corona lockdown, which was also imposed on the small Philippine island of Boracay, a group of about a dozen internationally composed stranded tourists decided to do something about the increasing starvation of the local population, which was impoverished due to the Corona measures. We started to collect money and distribute urgently needed food in the even on this small island many squatter areas (slums).
Who are our members, donors and supporters?
They come from different countries and motivations. What we have in common is the will and desire to provide emergency food to needy (poor and starving) people in precarious conditions in the Philippines. We are denominationally and ideologically neutral. Members, donors and supporters remain anonymous. They are named with the (preferably first) names or pseudonyms they give us. Societies and organizations can also support us.

How does FFP deal with transparency? How do the campaigns work exactly?
Via donations or relief supplies, via social media, personal contacts and events. As soon as enough money or relief supplies are collected (at least CHF 1'000.- each), we transfer it to our reliable guarantors and helpers on Boracay or Negros Occidental. They will then put together the next campaign at another focal point of need. All campaigns can be tracked via our constantly updated Excel central document “FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES.xlsx” (including accounting and policies charts) as well as via our illustrated reports on our homepage and on our social media platforms.
Are there deductions of donations such as expenses, salaries or other costs in FFP?
No! Expenses and costs are borne by the FFP officials themselves fully. The motto is that every single donated peso (or Swiss franc) will reach its destination 100%. All FFP functionaries work on a freelance/voluntary basis without a salary.
Does FFP accept donations other than money? Do we also help in the non-food area?
Yes! FFP also accepts valuable relief supplies and goods for everyday support. Especially popular and important are, for example, disused cell phones.
The rule of thumb is that transport and delivery costs should be significantly lower than the value of the non-food items.
Which needy people/provinces in the Philippines are supported by FFP?
It's a Drop in the Ocean. The UN organization Word Food Programme (WFP) sees a famine of "biblical proportions" because of the worldwide Corona lockdowns. The WFP expects 250 million MORE people to go hungry in the future! In the ranking of the poorest countries the Philippines is not even among the first ten... FFP researches very well, where the need in the Philippines, especially at our bases in Boracay and Negros Occidental is particularly great. We know our way around there, and that's where we go. Our choice may seem random, but given the devastating floods of the century in Silay on Negros Occ., we were clearly in the right place in early 2021.
How can I become a member, donor or supporter of FFP?
You can become a member of FFP if you give us your name in writing and declare your membership to us. FFP then assumes that you are willing to comply with the statutes which are set out in our policies section of our continuously updated central Excel document. Membership is free and can be terminated at any time.
You can become a donor by depositing donations into the association's account or by giving cash or relief supplies. You are also very welcome (!) to support us via LIKES, SHARES and COMMENTS on our FFP social media platforms.
How can I support FFP without being a member or donor?
Through LIKES, SHARES and COMMENTS on our FFP social media platforms, through spreading our message "to everyone", through word of mouth "do good and talk about it". Spontaneous fundraising campaigns or special FFP charity events where information and collections are organized are also very helpful. But our FFP members describe that the most impressive and educational way to get an insight into the precarious situation was to take part in one of the local food distribution campaigns in one of the squatter areas (slums).

Where does FFP stand in the wide field from corona-believers to corona-sceptics?
FFP is (Swiss like...) neutral, ideologically, politically and religiously unbound. We uphold the freedom of expression. However, members who violate the purpose of the FFP association will be excluded, including those who behave dishonorably in any other way.
What is FFP's policy regarding environmental protection?
In the Philippines, for a very small amount of money, we can buy (colorful) solid bags made of fabric in which we can deliver food better than in harmful plastic bags. The bags we use are stable and of such high quality that, unlike harmful plastic bags (which unfortunately are disposed of "everywhere" after a single use), can be stored and used several times. We also avoid delivery costs by letting the needy collect their food pacs through presentation of our grocery vouchers (coupons / voucher system).
FFP and sustainability - will FFP stop its campaigns "after Corona"?
We will remain active until we are no longer able to generate more donations or relief supplies, even in the long term. This also applies to the time "after Corona", because it is already foreseeable that the Philippines will continue to be economically and socially miserable for many years after the crisis and that there is a sustained need for aid as a result. The rule is that as soon as enough money or relief supplies can bee collected, the next relief campaign can be started. Our reliable and well-coordinated teams on site are always ready for the next campaign.
Can I deduct my money donated to FFP from tax?
We are in the process of clarifying this obviously complicated question with the tax authorities. There seems to be a special certified status among non-profit associations, which is a prerequisite for tax exemption of donors. In any case, all non-anonymous donors will receive a thank you letter from us. Everyone who donates and whose address is known will receive a thank you postcard from FFP ;)
Who is "Jack the Dog" - what does a cute little dog has to do with FFP?

Jack is a Shi Tsu dog (related to the Tibetan Terrier) and a beloved family member of our community in Silay, Negros Occidental. Jack is extremely kid-friendly, cheeky, funny and always in the mood for pranks. Because he arouses irresistible affection everywhere, we have officially appointed him ambassador and mascot of the FFP. He does his job very well, woof!

Our central FFP Excel document is called "FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES.xlsx". It's confidential and it's available for members only to be viewed via a constantly accessible and updated Dropbox link. Once we confirm membership, the new member will be granted access to the WhatsApp group "HELPERS Food for Phils", where this Dropbox link and other important links are available via WA "Group Information". This means that every member can transparently follow all activities of FFP - and of course can take influence at any time.

How is the non-profit association "FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES (FFP)" organized?
FFP was founded on April 15th 2020 as an international donation and food distribution group on Boracay. Since 21.07.2020 FFP has the legal form of a non-profit association according to Art. 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code (ZGB; SR / RS 210). We are based on our founding document of July 20th 2020, which contains the statutes and the election protocol drawn up at the same time, which was signed by all founding members. The members have agreed to regulate resolutions and activities online with one another. Details are regulated in the statutes and in the minutes of the establishment of the association.

Why did/do our campaigns and communication come to a standstill?
We can only organize and carry out the next food campaign if around CHF 1'000.- has been donated. We report on all our actions in our social media channels, in particular on the progress of all our posts and reports on FACEBOOK, see: https://www.foodforphilippines.org/campaigns

Unfortunately, our bank hindered our activities for a long time, which is why we officially founded the Nonprofit Swiss association FOOD FOR PHILIPPINES (FFP). This and the reinstallation of our media channels cost us a few months, the interruption of our relief work and a lot of trouble.
Who manages the business/campaigns of FFP? How?
We, a group of 3 people (chairman, vice chairman and communication/auditing), work from our headquarter in Basel and maintain close contact with our reliable and well-established food distribution teams on Boracay and Negros Occidental. As soon as enough donations are available (at least CHF 1'000.- each), we plan the next campaign with the teams on site. The board members with operational activities either remain anonymous or we identify ourselves with our real names (as we wish). All WFP members and the management work without any wages or compensation.

What suggestions, praise and criticism do you give us regarding FFP?
Hopefully a lot and in detail - on all of our social media platforms! We will answer whenever possible. Our members in particular are called upon to contribute to the promotion of the FFP-organization with suggestions and to make any necessary course corrections. For this puropse the WhatsApp group "HELPERS Food for Phils" is available. Here, our resolutions (in majority) can also be passed, especially since it is difficult to call members, who are scattered all over the world, to meetings.
